IAStorUI error when hitting Manage in IRSTconsole, and IRST not available at boot

Hi all. First time posting a message.  I was running Windows XP with two 500gb Seagate Barracuda drives in RAID 1.  I know system is old, but I only use it at work for one small purpose, and it'll be too much expense and effort to upgrade entire system.  Anyway, IRST informed me that one drive could have potential for failure.  With the potential of not finding exact new 500gb drives, I decided to upgrade to 1tb drives.

I followed Intel's instructions at  http://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005837.html

I was cruising along and able to get all the way to instruction #16. (so I rebuilt data to new drive, restarted, reset disks to non-raid, removed old drive so it had one drive, rebooted and partitioned new drive to include unallocated space, ie: going from 500gb to 1tb,  turned off system, attached second new drive, and booted up)

When I booted up, first thing I noticed was that the "Control I" option no longer appeared during boot.  Then, at desktop, when I opened up the IRST icon at bottom right of screen, and clicked the "Manage" option (so that I could create new Raid 1 and migrate data to new drive), I got the IAStorUI error message and IRST then closes.  When I go into Disk Management, both disks are active.

My IRST version is 10.8.0.1003.  Since I am running XP, I am limited as to the upgrade versions.  I don't know if upgrading is the answer, trying to reinstall version 10.8.0.1003, or something else. I need to get this finalized so I can start using this PC. Any suggestions????

Hello!

I have an IRST service problem. The IRST service not running in Windows 10 OS. I have an SSD with OS and 2 HDD with data (RAID1). I changed mode to RAID in BIOS and i created RAID1 volume. After the OS booted, that the IRST service not running. Reinstalling OS is not posslible. I had try reinstall IRST driver, and older version too, but the problem still exist.

Management Engine Driver 11.0.0.1155 causes Acer Aspire S7-392 to not shut down

Management Engine Driver 11.0.0.1155 causes Acer Aspire S7-392 to not shut down. Regressing to 9.5.10.1658 overcomes the issue, but is there a later MED that can be used with the S7-392 that has the same functionality but allows the laptop to turn off?  I would try 11.0.6.1194 but it would be good to get confirmation that it will work with the S7-392...

Hello and thank you ahead of time for any assistance,

In an attempt to install the latest version of the Intel drivers on my computer, I came across the Intel Driver Update Utility.  Each time I attempt to install the utility, I get a fatal error and cannot figure out what the problem is.

Here is the log file:

Getting 650MB/sec on USB3 Gen1 ...Really? How is this possible ?

I have a NUC (D54250WYK1) that I'm using to interface with a custom camera.  I developed the USB3.1 Gen1 camera device and was testing the throughput on USB ports of the NUC.  For production (potential product) I would like to have (2) of these custom cameras interface with the NUC.  At my max camera speed, I can send ~275MB/sec to a USB3 port on the NUC.  I was surprised to find out that I could also connect a 2nd custom camera running at the same speed on a 2nd USB3.0 port. I have a tool to provides statistics and sure enough, it shows that 550MB/sec is going through both ports.  To test even further, I have a USB3 drive connected to a 3rd USB3.0 port (back side) and copied a file FROM that hard drive to my SSD drive (~2GB file).  The USB tool tells me I reached speeds of 650MB/sec !  So... obviously there's more than 1 bus instance going on here.  [Which  is exactly what I need !!].

How do I know/specify in future NUC or other Intel MB's, that I need several bus instances of xHCI to guarentee 2 sensors to my MB ?  How do I know which USB3.0 connectors are on seperate xHCI bus instances?

I love the fact that I can stream 650MB through USB devices at once, but I can't explain it, so I have no idea how to specify how to guarentee it.

How many xHCI bus instances are there on this NUK ? How do I find out?

Also, I can slow my camera down to ~175MB and run through a USB3 HUB.  How do I determine the max throughput of the HUB? [i.e. what general overhead would I expect beyond the standard 20% of the 5Gbs?

Thanks!

Mike

IBM / Lenovo ThinkStation P300  Machine type: 30AHCTO1WW

-System details

I have an I have an IBM / Lenovo ThinkStation P300  Machine type: 30AHCTO1WW equipped with Intel RAID technology.

the machine is roughly three years old. It is as a remote location and I am unable to walk anyone through the process of getting the BIOS ROM version of the software/firmware so I can't report that info.

The machine is running Windows V8.1 and had RST V12.8.0.1016 installed

I built the machine and created the RAID 1 array initially via the BIOS  Ctrl-I interface

Recently one drive failed ... and the machine would not boot.

We unplugged the failed drive and then the machine booted normally.

we replaced the dead drive with a very similar but not identical drive same series of Segate 2TB drive with same cyl/heads/sectors but different detail model number.

I am at a remote location so after replacing the drive I had the on-site guy boot it up.

It booted normally but when I went into RST  (V12.8.0.1016) it only "saw" the one good drive, it did not see the blank drive and thus was not rebuilding the array.

In device manager under disks there were two entries:

     Intel RAID 1

     STxxxxxx  (the newly added drive)

A reboot was of no help

I upgraded RST to the latest version - V14.8.0.1042 and rebooted again... still RST did not see the newly added drive.

I went into Disk Management and it showed the OS drive and the blank drive ....

It prompted me to to create a partition style so I selected GUID which is the style of the existing drive ... I figured it couldn't hurt...

I rebooted again and still RST did not "see" the newly added replacement drive.

There is no one on site that is able to assist me by getting into the CTRL-I interface, so unless I can get some suggestions here I'm planning to drive out to the site and see if per chance the new drive needs to be added as a member disk or something like that ....

BUT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I COULD DO THAT THROUGHT RST, AND I AM AT A LOSS TO EXPLAIN WHY THE DRIVE IS NOT DISPLAYED IN RST since device manager and the disk management utility both "see" it....

Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks,

Jim

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Location in Windows Event Log?

Where and how does Intel RST place events in the Windows Event Log?  We need to know what to look for when a drive fails or an event happens.  An exact location/way to find RST log entries in the Event Viewer would be helpful.

Bluetooth not working on - AC 7260 after Windows update

Hi guys,

I have had Intel driver/chipset compatibility issues ever since I purchased my NUC. It seems that it will work then months then suddenly break after a windows update, then I will have to wait months for Intel to release an updated chipset.

I have installed the latest chipset dated 26th September 2016 but that hasn't resolved my issue.

As far as my Windows 10 NUC is concerned there is no Bluetooth functionality at all.

In my device manager I have "Unknown USB Device (Device Descripter Request Failed)" "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

I believe this to be the root cause.

Does anyone know if it is possible to fix this without having to wait for a fix from Intel?

C232 chipset storage drivere (IRSTe)

I would like to install driver and software for Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise (IRSTe) on my Windows box (Win10 / server 2016) with chipset C232.

First of all I can't find anything about the C232 & C236 on Intel download?

Secondly I can only find and IRSTe driver for NVMe SSD drives, not a "normal" driver and software package? (link)

Well, that's not all true you can find a 4 year old driver package for desktop board but it has no support for Win10.

How can I make use of IRSTe on my Win10 / 2016 box?

HDD APM Problem

Hello Everyone!

I bought in the last week a brand-new Intel system. I switched from an "old" AMD system.
I have an Asus H110M-K motherboard, with an Skylake i3-6100. I have an SSD (for the system) and a HDD (for the other stuff, games etc.) So, my problem is the following:

I assembled my PC and started to installing the Win 10 Pro x64 system to my SSD. Everything was good, system is installed. I installed the Intel chipset driver from the Motherboard driver CD.
Then restarted my PC. After that, I heard an weird sound from my HDD. It's "continously" spin off and on when I using it. The data copying is remain fast, but it's go to parking the heads and then back to the plate ... and again and again...
I fear about that my HDD will get "destroyed" when this problem remain unsolved. My HDD is in good condition, 100%100 in every test program. S.M.A.R.T datas are also good. I downloaded an app called HDDScan, it has an
APM manage feature. I tried to switch off the Advanced Power Management in this app, then... the problem dissapeared! But it's not a permanent solution, is remain only when I restart my PC or I log off and log on. I made a batch file

which automatically switch off this APM when my system starts, but I think it's not a solution for the future. I'm afraid about my HDD health. I read about this problem, and some people said it's a bug in the Intel RST or in the Intel chipset driver,

because in some cases it's have problem with the HDD's APM feature.

What should I do now? Uninstall the Intel ACHI driver from the device manager and replace with the default Microsoft AHCI driver, or any permanent solution to this problem?

Thank you very much!

Windows 10 - Rapid Storage Driver causes Graphics Driver to crash

Hello everyone,

Ive been having lots of graphic driver crashes during my gaming sessions and after closing out my graphics card as a fault (bought a GTX 980 today) I decided to check windows eventlog. After that it was pretty clear that Intel RST was the problem here. At the exact time when i encountered the freezes and graphic driver crashed Intel Rapid Storage Technology, which is part of my chipset drivers, blocked my volumes by resetting Raid/0. I dont use any Raid Technology (except for Raid/0 aka Striping of course).

What i wanted to ask is, if theres any benefit if I dont need any Raid Technologies like Mirroring. I also dont use the feature that "unites" some of my physical volumes to one logical volume.

Currently I have RST uninstalled and that fixed the problem. The thing is: I've had it installed for a couple years and there never happened to be any problem, so I'm quite curious what seems to be the problem.

Is there any workaround?

Thanks in advance,

Breenori

Greetings,

I just tried to convert a Fujitsu Lifebook U772 from 2012 from Win 10 to Linux Mint.

When I got is used, there was not way to revert to Win 7.

Much works OK.  But, I know I have the QM77 chipset.  I am unable to login to the WiFi where I live.

There is NO Ethernet.

How do I query / identify which Intel Wifi drivers I need?

Thanks for reading.

I'm running a Xeon E3-1246 v3 Haswell-WS CPU in an 1150 socket with a C222 chipset.

What RSTe drivers do I need to download (and where) for this combination (or just the C222 chipset if the CPU doesn't matter)?
